What Children Learn in PreK-4
- Literacy & Early Writing Children engage in read-alouds, shared reading, and early comprehension activities. They explore letter sounds, rhyme, and simple word families while practicing pre-writing and early writing skills such as writing their name, labeling work, and composing simple sentences with support.
- Math Reasoning & STEM Hands-on activities introduce number relationships, counting, comparing quantities, patterns, shapes, and simple measurement. STEM-based explorations—like building structures, observing changes, and testing ideas—help children think like young scientists and engineers.
- Social-Emotional Growth PreK-4 students practice working in small groups, taking on classroom jobs, and collaborating on projects. Teachers support children in managing emotions, using problem-solving strategies, and making choices that show empathy, respect, and responsibility.

A Day That Feels Like “Big School” – But Still Playful
Children follow multi-step directions, transition smoothly between activities, complete work with growing independence, and care for materials and personal belongings. These routines mirror school-like expectations so children feel confident when they move on to kindergarten or VPK.
Our PreK-4 classroom follows a consistent daily rhythm that looks and feels more like elementary school while still honoring the need for play.
A typical day includes arrival and morning routines, morning meeting with calendar, songs, and shared reading, literacy and math centers, project-based investigations and STEM activities, snack and self-help routines, outdoor play for gross-motor development, small-group instruction targeting specific skills, and closing circle to reflect on the day’s learning.
What families love about PreK-4
A challenging yet playful classroom where four-year-olds investigate big ideas, build strong academic foundations, and grow into confident, independent learners.
