Tools & Experiences in Our VPK Classroom

IXL Learning Program

Our VPK students use the IXL online program for personalized practice in reading and math. IXL adapts to each child’s learning pace, offers real-time feedback and skill recommendations, and provides progress tracking that helps teachers identify strengths and areas for extra support.

Interactive Smart Boards

Interactive Smart Boards are used daily during circle time and lessons, bringing learning to life through songs, movement activities, educational videos, and hands-on digital tools. Children build early technology skills while staying actively engaged.

Educational Field Trips

Multiple field trips throughout the year connect classroom learning to real-world experiences. These outings are designed to spark curiosity, build social skills, and offer meaningful, hands-on exploration beyond the classroom.

Mandatory VPK Assessments

VPK assessments are administered throughout the year to monitor developmental progress and ensure children are on track for kindergarten readiness. Results help teachers individualize instruction and share clear updates with families.

End-of-Year Graduation Ceremony

At the end of the VPK year, we celebrate each child’s growth with a special graduation ceremony. Families are invited to share this joyful milestone as children complete their preschool journey and prepare to enter kindergarten.

Weekly Homework

Weekly homework reinforces classroom lessons in early literacy, math, and comprehension. It helps children build responsibility, routine, and readiness for the expectations of kindergarten.

A Day in Our VPK Classroom

Cutting, drawing, writing, building, and manipulating small materials strengthen fine-motor skills. Children also practice classroom work habits: focusing on tasks, completing assignments, organizing materials, and following multi-step directions.

Our VPK classroom follows a structured, school-like daily rhythm that prepares children for the routines of kindergarten.

A typical day includes arrival and morning work, morning meeting and phonemic awareness activities, literacy and math centers, small-group instruction for targeted skills, IXL practice and Smart Board lessons, snack and self-help routines, outdoor play and gross-motor time, science, social studies, or STEM investigations, and closing circle with reflection and read-alouds. Homework and home–school communication keep families connected to what children are learning each week.

Why families choose our VPK

A structured, supportive program that blends strong academics with social-emotional learning, technology, and real-world experiences—so children leave preschool confident and ready for kindergarten.

What is VPK and who is eligible?

VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) is a state-supported program designed to prepare children for kindergarten. Eligibility is based on Florida’s age and residency requirements. Families can contact our office for current guidelines and enrollment details.

How is your VPK program different from PreK-4?

Both programs support strong school readiness. VPK is aligned directly with Florida’s VPK standards and includes state-required assessments, structured academic goals, and additional tools such as weekly homework, IXL practice, and Smart Board instruction to support kindergarten preparation.

How do you track my child’s progress?

We combine daily observation, classroom work samples, VPK assessments, and data from tools like IXL to monitor each child’s growth. Teachers use this information to adjust instruction and share regular updates with families.

Will my child be ready for kindergarten after VPK?

Our goal is that every child leaves VPK confident, capable, and excited for kindergarten. By focusing on literacy, math, social-emotional skills, and work habits—and partnering closely with families—we support each child’s readiness for the next step in their educational journey.
